OGP Community Imbizo, Mpumalanga

6 October 2015, Msukaligwa Municipality in Ermelo

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) in partnership with the Mpumalanga provincial government, held a public participation programme at the Msukaligwa Municipality in Ermelo on 6 October 2015.

The DPSA engaged with the local community on the two programmes and how they contribute to the development and improvement of the country under the theme, "APRM and OGP: Putting People at the Center of Service Delivery through Open Government and Public Participation."

The APRM and OGP both have similar objectives of advancing good governance through promotion of transparency, empowering citizens, fight corruption, and harnessing new technologies to strengthen governance. The objectives of the two initiatives are a clear uniting factor.

At the centre of both the APRM and OGP is an emphasis on citizen engagement. This is manifested in the fact that both programmes are developed through a multi-stakeholder process, with the active engagement of citizens and civil society.
